Handcrafted Hospitality is presented by the CSULB Hospitality Management program and brings together industry partners, students and faculty in the program, university administrators, culinary and craft beer aficionados to enjoy a wonderful beer-pairing multicourse dinner featuring various craft beers and local chefs. In addition, this event provides students in the program the opportunity to showcase their skills at managing events in the hospitality industry.
About the CSULB Hospitality Management Program
The Hospitality Management program’s mission is to prepare hospitality leaders to meet the needs of the industry and community in a dynamic, multi-cultural, global job market by providing superior education, research and service. The Bachelor of Science degree is designed to provide students with the necessary background and expertise to excel as managers and leaders in the hospitality industry. The curriculum offers a broad-based foundation in both academic and professional courses and includes hands-on practical experience. The program is housed in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences within the College of Health and Human Services.
Hospitality Management Points of Interest
Approximately 300 students are in the Hospitality Management program.
Job placement after graduation has averaged about 95%.
All students completed 800 hours of approved work experience plus an internship.
Professional certifications are offered in multiple classes.
The Hospitality Management program is one of only two 4-year programs in California that is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration (ACPHA).
Students enjoy the option to participate in various extracurricular activities, student clubs, study abroad, plus have many opportunities for work experience and job placement in the surrounding geographical area.
A chapter of the Eta Sigma Delta honor society for students in the Hospitality management is housed in the department.
